Normandy falls within the area of France with an oceanic climate, characterized by relatively mild winters along the coast, with temperatures varying between 6°C/8°C (average maximum in January) and 1°C/2°C (average minimum January), but colder inland. Summers are generally cool and humid, with average maximum temperatures between 22°C and 23°C in August, and average minimum temperatures of 12°C in July and August.
Precipitation is relatively abundant, it rains more along the coast than in the interior, generally between 600 mm and 800 mm per year. Rainfall is well distributed throughout the year, although it increases between autumn and the beginning of winter and decreases slightly in summer.
The region is known for the extreme variability of the climate. The rainy days vary between 132 in Rouen, 124 in Caen, and 115 in Evreux, the hours of sunshine vary between 1,518 in Rouen, 1,624 in Caen, and 1.684 of Evreux. Snow is a rather rare event.
WHEN TO GO TO NORMANDY
The best time to visit Normandy are the warmer months between May and September.
