Historic town along the coast of Montenegro, Budva (Budva) is the country’s main tourist destination renowned for its beaches, the beauty of its Venetian-style old town and its vibrant and intense nightlife.

The old town of Budva lies on a small island, later connected to the mainland by a sandy isthmus, and then transformed into a peninsula, surrounded by Venetian walls from the 15th century, it is made up of narrow streets and small squares.

The old center has precious historical monuments from various periods, such as the four main churches of the old town, the 7th century church of Saint John (Sv. Ivan), the church of the Benedictine monastery of Saint Mary of Punta (Sv. Marija in Punta ) from the 9th century, the church of St. Sava from the 14th century, and the more recent church of Saint Trinity (Sv. Trojice) from the beginning of the 19th century.

Opposite the old town is the island of St. Nicholas (Sveti Nikola), covered with Mediterranean vegetation, with three beautiful sandy beaches, and with the ruins of an ancient convent and church.

Budua is famous for its beaches nestled between rocky spurs, among the most popular those of Mogren, just 500 meters from the historic center, Slovenska plaža, Ričardova glava, Pizana, Bečići, Jaz.

The so-called Budva Riviera is a succession of picturesque towns, with long sandy beaches harmoniously inserted in the thick Mediterranean vegetation, such as Santo Stefano (Sveti Stefan), Miločer, Petrovac.

A few kilometers south of Budva is the characteristic islet of Sveti Stefan (St. Stephen), one of the most photographed places on the coast of Montenegro.

Numerous cultural events are organized in Budva during the summer, the most important of which are the Theater Festival (Theatre City Budva) and the Music Festival (Music Festival Budva).

Along the road that connects Budua with Podgorica it is possible to admire the imposing fortress of Kosmac high on a hill.
